Upon your arrival, the chiropractor will open your file, and you will be asked to complete a questionnaire to determine whether they can assist you.

The chiropractor must first establish a chiropractic diagnosis, which involves identifying the nature of your condition. To do so, they will ask you questions about your current condition, the reasons that led you to seek care, as well as your past and present health.

In general, the chiropractor will then perform examinations to make their diagnosis. The evaluation includes assessing your posture, gait, joint range of motion, and the function of your nerves, muscles, and joints.

They will also perform a chiropractic assessment of your spinal mobility to identify areas where vertebral movement is inadequate. In some cases, the chiropractor may order X-rays of your spine or other joints to complete their analysis and better assist you.

Based on your condition, age, and overall health, the chiropractor will recommend the most appropriate care following the initial examination.

The chiropractor must explain the results of this examination as well as the diagnosis.

They must also explain the nature of the first visit and the treatment they propose, and obtain your consent before proceeding with care based on your condition.

It may also be necessary to consult another healthcare professional. Informed consent for chiropractic care is mandatory and must be signed by the patient.

As with any healthcare intervention, it is important to discuss your diagnosis, the proposed treatments, potential benefits, and possible complications with the professional, and to authorize them to begin care.

This consent does not constitute a commitment to long-term care and can be revoked at any time.

Do not hesitate to ask questions during the examination and when treatment is recommended. Remember, the chiropractor is a partner in your health, which is why building a trusting relationship is essential.
